Red Sox minor lines: Rain, rain, and Rafael Devers

New, comments

Thursday brought a lot more rain, and one hell of a night for Rafael Devers.

Another supremely wet day leaves us with neither Portland or Greenville, and sadly it was one of those days in Salem to boot. But at least the teams that did play provided some excellent material.

Pawtucket W 6-1

Mookie Betts: 2-5, POCS
Travis Shaw: 2-5
Garin Cecchini: 0-3, BB, K
Christian Vazquez: 2-3, HR, BB
Alex Hassan: 1-3, 3B, BB, K

Steven Wright: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 1 HR
Alex Wilson: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

After hitting .289/.376/.395 for Portland in 2013, this season has certainly been a letdown from Christian Vazquez so far. June, however, is his opportunity to catch up. Last year he produced a .569 OPS in 65 June at bats. So far, in 40 June at bats this year, that number is .866.

DSL Red Sox L 8-11

Rafael Devers: 2-5, 2 HR, BB, K

Oh. Well alright then. It's getting harder and harder to imagine that Devers won't be starting 2015 in Greenville à la Xander Bogaerts. He may be 17, but he clearly doesn't play on the same level as the other 17-year-olds.
