Red Sox vs. Cardinals: Grady Sizemore returns to leadoff spot

With spring training entering its final stretch, the Red Sox lineup is still not set.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Grady Sizemore is back in the leadoff spot Monday morning as the Red Sox don their St. Patrick's Day greens and take on the St. Louis Cardinals in JetBlue Park.

Boston Red Sox (7-10)

  1. Grady Sizemore, CF
  2. Shane Victorino, RF
  3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  4. David Ortiz, DH
  5. Mike Napoli, 1B
  6. Daniel Nava, LF
  7. Xander Bogaerts, SS
  8. A.J. Pierzynski, C
  9. Brock Holt, 3B

Starting Pitcher -- John Lackey

St. Louis Cardinals (6-8)

  1. Kolten Wong, 2B
  2. Jon Jay, LF
  3. Daniel Descalso, 3B
  4. Matt Adams, DH
  5. Xavier Scruggs, 1B
  6. Shane Robinson, RF
  7. Peter Bourjos, CF
  8. Tony Cruz, C
  9. Pete Kozma, SS

Starting Pitcher -- Shelby Miller

With each new lineup, it becomes less and less clear how John Farrell actually intends to order his starting nine come the regular season. Clearly Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, and Mike Napoli will be all in a row starting at either the two or three spot, but that's about all we can be sure of. Is Grady Sizemore going to be in there, or Jackie Bradley Jr.? If it's Sizemore, will he be batting leadoff, or will it be Daniel Nava or Shane Victorino? Does Bogaerts bat ahead of Pierzynski? Does Middlebrooks?

He's been bouncing around on all these points so far this spring, and based on shows no signs of stopping. Not that that's a problem, really.

First pitch will be at 1:05 p.m. EST, with ESPN providing a broadcast that just about all of us should have access to, barring prior obligations.
