The SB Nation Awards are going to be a bit different this year. There are a variety of categories that we'll run this week, showing off a handful of nominees for each. You, the dear reader, will then vote on these nominees to determine which of them will be finalists for the award in their respective category. Today, we're looking for the funniest moment of the Red Sox season. I know, I know, it might feel like 2014 was bereft of humor, but a look back at some of the year's more hilarious happenings will remind you that this just isn't the case.
So, check out the nominees below, then vote in the poll at the end for your favorite. The winner will go up against the comical victor from every other SB Nation team site in front of our committee of SB Nation MLB judges, which probably includes me now that I think about it.
1. Brock Holt reacts to his demotion
Well...that was fun. At least my groceries won't go bad now.
— Brock Holt (@BrockStar4Lyf) April 7, 2014
Brock Holt was called up and demoted in a 24-hour period, and took to Twitter to voice his disappointment.
2. Meghan Duggan taunts Michael Pineda's pine tar use during ceremonial first pitch
Ahahahaha I am still in love with everything about this.
3. David Ortiz walks to first base before ball four
Try throwing strikes next time, then it won't be a big deal.
4. Matt Shoemaker's wife is not a Will Middlebrooks' fan
It's a shame people gave her hell for this, because it was as hilarious as it was innocent.
5. Jerry Remy loses a tooth during NESN broadcast
"It's got a nail in it. You shouldn't have a nail in your teeth."
