The Red Sox have found their replacement for former hitting coach Greg Colbrunn. The team announced the hiring of Chili Davis as the club's major league hitting coach. The team also announced that assistant hitting coach Victor Rodriguez will return for his third season with the club. The club's hiring of Davis was previously first reported by Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.

Davis returns to the Red Sox organization, where he served as the hitting coach for Triple-A Pawtucket in 2011. A three-time All-Star and World Series Champion during his 19-year playing career, David served as the hitting coach for the Oakland Athletics the last three seasons. During that span, Davis oversaw the breakouts of players such as Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick, Josh Donaldson and current Red Sox Yoenis Cespedes.

"Chili's experience and success as both a player and a coach make him a valuable addition to our staff, and we are excited to have him working with our hitters," said Red Sox manager John Farrell through a press release.  "In addition, we look forward to having Victor return to the staff.  In his time here, he has built strong relationships with our younger players, some of which date back to his days working in our minor league system."

For Rodriguez, the 2015 season will mark his 21st season with the Red Sox organization. Rodriguez spent 18 years as the minor league hitting coordinator (2002, 2007-13), Latin field coordinator (2004-06), minor league hitting instructor (2003) and hitting coach for various minor league teams in the organization (1996-2000). Rodriguez also played for the Red Sox organization in 1995.

Unless bench coach Torey Lovullo is hired as the manager of the Minnesota Twins, the Red Sox are expected to return the rest of the coaching staff in 2015.
