The Red Sox really just needed o avoid being swept this series. Well, now they're on the verge of sweeping it themselves. But at this point you get the feeling the Red Sox are moving into "9.5 game lead on September 12th" mode, which is to say the pressure is not on. Shane Victorino has been banged up all year, so getting him a day off or two seems like a good idea. As does getting Xander time against a righty, just to see how it goes. Who knows what the playoffs will call for?

Assuming, of course, that the Red Sox get there! I won't be the one to jinx it, so help me God.
