The Red Sox will have Mike Carp in left field Sunday afternoon as they go for a series win against Brandon McCarthy and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Boston Red Sox (67-45)

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Shane Victorino, RF
  3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  4. David Ortiz, DH
  5. Mike Napoli, 1B
  6. Mike Carp, LF
  7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  8. Stephen Drew, SS
  9. Brock Holt, 3B

Starting Pitcher -- Felix Doubront

Arizona Diamondbacks (56-54)

  1. A. J. Pollock, RF
  2. Aaron Hill, 2B
  3. Paul Goldschmidt. 1B
  4. Martin Prado, 3B
  5. Cody Ross, LF
  6. Wil Nieves, C
  7. Gerardo Parra, CF
  8. Tuffy Gosewisch, DH
  9. Didi Gregorius, SS

Starting Pitcher -- Brandon McCarthy

After facing Felix Hernandez, Randall Delgado, and Patrick Corbin over the past three games, Brandon McCarthy seems like something of a reprieve for the Red Sox lineup. A strike-thrower first, McCarthy doesn't overpower batters, and while that style should play well with the Diamondbacks' impressive defense, that hasn't been the case so far this season, with McCarthy sporting a hefty 5.00 ERA. Playing in Fenway Park can't help.

Add in Felix Doubront, who hasn't allowed more than three earned runs since May 8th, and this looks like a positive matchup for the Red Sox. Now they just have to make good on it.
