Red Sox minor lines: Clay Buchholz rehabs. Poorly.

Clay Buchholz' rehab start didn't go so well. But that's no cause for concern.

Jim Rogash

Pawtucket W 6-5

Box Score

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 1-4, 2B, 2 K
Brock Holt: 1-3, HR, BB, K, E
Ryan Lavarnway: 0-2, 2 BB
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, HR, BB, K

Anthony Ranaudo: 3 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR

Anthony Ranaudo doesn't have decent outings in Pawtucket. He's either lockdown or a bonfire. But given the way his Portland season ended, and that he's just five starts in, that's not such a bad thing.

Portland L 2-3 (In 10)

Box Score

Deven Marrero: 1-5, 2 K, SB
Garin Cecchini: 0-4, BB, 2 K
Michael Almanzar: 2-5, HR, 2 K
Christian Vazquez: 1-4, K, POCS
Travis Shaw: 2-4, BB, K, CS

Michael Almanzar is like Sean Coyle without quite so many excuses. Homers, sure, but where's the rest? Speaking of Coyle...

Salem W 6-5

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 3-5, HR, K
Henry Ramos: 2-4, BB, K
Keury De La Cruz: 1-5, 2 K
Blake Swihart: 3-5
Mookie Betts: 2-5, POCS

Seriously, this is a 35 homer pace over the course of even a relatively low 500 AB season.

Greenville L 2-4

Box Score

Kendrick Perkins: 0-1, K

Cody Kukuk: 3.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
Austin Maddox: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

In 32 innings since the All-Star Break, Austin Maddox has a 2.48 ERA. It took a bit, but the move to relief seems to have worked out.

Lowell L 9-11

Box Score

Forrestt Allday: 1-4, K
Tzu-Wei Lin: 2-5, K
Manuel Margot: 4-4, 2B, 3B, BB, CS, E

Clay Buchholz: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Corey Littrell: 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

So...not what you're hoping for from Clay Buchholz, that's for sure. But also not terribly important. Buchholz hasn't pitched in a real game for months, and we've seen this sort of thing all the time from rehabbing players. So just in case you were approaching a cliff, I'd recommend turning around and walking the other way.

Oh, hey Manuel Margot! The quietly impressive season continues for the 18-year-old. Born in 1994. Seriously, now.
