- Chris Stewart, C
Starting Pitcher -- CC Sabathia
Stephen Drew moves back down, Jarrod Saltalamacchia back up, Jonny Gomes takes the fifth spot with the lefty on the mound. It's a set of adjustments that would look a lot better were Salty not relatively hopeless from the right side of the plate, but even then, the Red Sox just don't seem to have it going against lefties this year. At least not compared to what they do to right-handed pitchers.
But you know who else seems to be quite wrong this year? CC Sabathia, with his 4.66 ERA. You can lump Ryan Dempster right in there, even after he finally put together a quality outing in his last start. On the whole, this could be kind of a mess of a game--the sort that Red Sox fans would hope the better team wins out in. Particularly given the precedent getting right back to losing would set. Particularly with the Rays having already won. And particularly with a trip out west staring them in the face.
