Red Sox minor lines: A Mookie of all trades

Mookie Betts is doing it all.

USA TODAY Sports

A very short schedule of games yesterday, as most of the farm system took the day off with the big league club.

Salem L 3-7

Box Score

Henry Ramos: 1-5, 2B
Blake Swihart: 1-4, K
Mookie Betts: 0-2, 2 BB, K, SB
Cody Koback: 2-3, 2B, BB, K, SB

Given that Mookie Betts is a 20-year-old middle infielder walking as much as he strikes out (even post-promotion now) with 12 homers to his name in 385 at bats, it's easy to miss the fact that he also has stolen 32 bases, and that it's taken him just 34 attempts to do so. As a fifth-round draft pick it sounds a little silly to say that Mookie has come out of nowhere, but in terms of perception, after doing little more than getting on base in the 2012 season, he's really emerging as an excellent all-around prospect.

GCL Red Sox Game 1 W 8-4 (In 7)
