Red Sox minor lines: Trey Ball debuts

Trey ball debuts in the GCL while Rubby fades in Pawtucket

Gail Oskin

Pawtucket L 1-9

Box Score

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-5
Xander Bogaerts: 2-4, 2B
Will Middlebrooks: 0-4
Brock Holt: 3-4

Rubby De La Rosa: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 3 HR
Franklin Morales: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

The fatigue that's always involved in a recovery year seems to have caught up to Rubby. Hard to imagine he'll provide much help to the major league team this year.

Salem L 2-5

Box Score

Henry Ramos: 1-4, 2B
Deven Marrero: 1-4, K
Keury De La Cruz: 2-4, K
Blake Swihart: 1-4, K
Mookie Betts: 0-3, BB

Henry Ramos has four hits in his last 37 at bats, as surge turns suddenly and resoundingly into slump.

Greenville W 3-1

Justin Haley: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

GCL Red Sox W 5-3

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 0-3
Jon Denney: 1-4, BB, K
Jordon Austin: 1-3, 3B, BB, K

Trey Ball: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

So that debut could have gone better, but I'm actually a little surprised it didn't go worse with an error behind him and the Rays running all over him and his catcher. Big things to come from Trey Ball, but probably not this year.
