As you might guess by the fact that Owens went into the eighth and ended up with quite so many runs, this was a matter of a great outing ending poorly. It wasn't until the sixth that Owens' no-hit streak came to an end after better than two full games worth of innings, and he entered the eighth with a shutout intact before giving up three hits, a walk, and ultimately four runs.

This will hurt the season numbers, but this performance should really just serve to drive home the fact that this is one special guy we have on our hands.
