Red Sox vs. Padres lineups: Stephen Drew remains missing

The Red Sox are still stuck with a 24-man roster thanks to the missing Stephen Drew.

USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox have been one man down in the bullpen for the last few days thanks to the injured-but-not-DLed Stephen Drew. They'll remain handicapped Tuesday night as Stephen Drew misses another game, with Brandon Snyder filling in for the absent shortstop.

Boston Red Sox (50-34)

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Shane Victorino, RF
  3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  4. David Ortiz, DH
  5. Mike Napoli, 1B
  6. Jonny Gomes, LF
  7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  8. Brandon Snyder, 3B
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

Starting Pitcher -- John Lackey

San Diego Padres (40-43)

  1. Logan Forsythe, 2B
  2. Chris Denorfia, RF
  3. Carlos Quentin, DH
  4. Chase Headley, 3B
  5. Kyle Blanks, LF
  6. Jesus Guzman, 1B
  7. Nick Hundley, C
  8. Alexi Amarista, CF
  9. Pedro Ciriaco, SS

Starting Pitcher -- Robbie Erlin

Who the heck is Robbie Erlin? He's 22 with 15 innings of MLB history, his average fastball is under 90 MPH, and--you guessed it, he's a lefty! He's also been really good in the minor leagues, right up until hitting the infamous PCL. That's the perfect "soft-tossing lefty straight out of the minors" storm along with the possibility that there might well be some quality there as well. Hardly ideal.

Here's hoping the right-handed lineup does its job against Erlin, like it sort of did against Buehrle. Having David Ortiz back in the lineup certainly can't hurt, either.
