Deven Marrero: 2-4, 2B
Keury De La Cruz: 2-3, SB
Blake Swihart: 2-3, 2B
Mookie Betts: 1-2
Cody Koback: 0-2

An awful start to July has probably hurt Keury's trade value, but a late surge could help him along to being worth something. After all, if Brandon Jacobs can net a reliever...

Kendrick Perkins: 2-5, 2B, K

Jamie Callahan: 5 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR

Callahan continues to gain some small seperation between his strikeouts and walks. We'll take every bit he can give us.

MLB Futures Game (US 4 - World 2)

Box Score

Xander Bogaerts: 2-3, BB, K, CS
Garin Cecchini: 1-2, 2B

Anthony Ranaudo: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 1 HR

A fine performance from the batters, but not so much from Mr. Ranaudo, who seems to be fading in the middle of the year. That shouldn't be a huge surprise since he threw all of 37 innings last year.

Pawtucket L 2-6

Box Score

Will Middlebrooks: 1-4, HR, 2 K
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-3, K

Allen Webster: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

After a hot start, Will Middlebrooks looks very much like his early-season self, with relatively little in terms of consistent on-base ability.

Portland L 0-4

Box Score

Christian Vazquez: 0-1, 3 BB, E
Travis Shaw: 1-4, K
Michael Almanzar: 1-4, 2 K, E

Matt Barnes: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

This isn't...the worst we've seen of Barnes of late at all. But 82 pitches to get through three innings (only one of the errors came behind him, and that on an attempted pickoff by Vazquez, so it didn't so much cost him an out, just a run) is not a good thing. He's very likely going to have quite a bit to prove in 2014.

Salem W 5-1

Box Score

Henry Ramos: 2-3, 2B, 2 BB
Deven Marrero: 1-4, BB, K, SB
Keury De La Cruz: 2-5, K
Blake Swihart: 0-4, K
Mookie Betts: 2-4, E
Cody Koback: 1-4, K

Henry Ramos breaks a bit of a slide from the past four games. Unfortunately, Swihart goes right back into his. He's gone hitless in six of his last ten games in an unfortunate July.

Lowell L 0-1

Box Score

Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-4, 2 K, CS
Manuel Margot: 3-4, 2B, SB
Kendrick Perkins: 0-3, BB, 2 K, SB

Ty Buttrey: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Manuel Margot, for all that this is only his fifth extra-base hit of the season, now has a batting average over .300, and OBP of .381. Not bad at 18.
