Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineups: Allen Webster and a freeroll

Let's take a different approach to this Webster start.

So Allen Webster is on the mound tonight, and so far this season that has not been a great thing. With a revitalized Josh Johnson pitching for the Jays tonight, well, you might not be feeling so good about this game.

I would suggest a different approach.

While on some level, deep down, we're all still hoping that Webster will come out tonight and amaze, that seems unlikely. The young Red Sox prospect is not quite there yet, and four days aren't typically enough to make the difference in that area.

Hidden in his last outing with its five runs in four innings, however, were some fantastic pitches. The stuff that makes you dream of what he can be if and when he finds consistency on the mound. So let's approach tonight as a freeroll. One necessitated by an injured Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox probably aren't winning tonight based on the pitching matchup. If they do, that's fantastic. If they don't, enjoy the promise that is hopefully on display, and try not to get too worked up by one bad game, even if it's coming in this packed division.

Seriously, we'll all live longer for it.
