The Red Sox have faced some serious competition this year. They play in the AL East, after all. They haven't exactly lived up to every challenge, but with a 23-15 record against winning teams, they certainly haven't been slouches.
These Tigers are the final challenge that the American League has yet to present them. 39-31, albeit in a mediocre division, with firepower to match that of Boston's.
Four games can only say so much. But for whatever they're worth, why not make them positive?
