Red Sox minor lines: A Workman-like performance

Brandon Workman's peripherals finally yield results, while Xander Bogaerts keeps on chugging.

USA TODAY Sports

Pawtucket W 5-3

Box Score

Ryan Lavarnway: 0-3, BB
Brock Holt: 2-4, 2B, K, E

Allen Webster: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR
Alex Wilson: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

It's odd. Since returning to the minors, Webster has allowed just six earned runs in 22 innings of work. That's a pretty good number, but with all the walks--14 in those 22 innings--it feels like he hasn't really shed the issues that left him rocked in his last major league start.

Portland L 1-2

Box Score

Xander Bogaerts: 2-2, 2B, 2 BB
Michael Almanzar: 1-4, HR
Travis Shaw: 1-4
Christian Vazquez: 0-3
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-2, BB, K, CS

Brandon Workman: 8 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR

In his last 10 games, Xander Bogaerts is hitting .400/.522/.800. This would seem to be proof that opposing pitchers can get him out, yesterday's results notwithstanding.

Then there's Brandon Workman. After May saw him post a 4.82 ERA despite 35 strikeouts to just nine walks, it's good to see him getting some real results to start June.

Salem L 3-5

Box Score

Deven Marrero: 2-5, 2B
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, 2B, BB, CS
Keury De La Cruz: 0-5, K
Brandon Jacobs: 2-5, 2 K
Blake Swihart: 1-5, 2B, E
Henry Ramos: 1-2, 2 BB, K
David Renfroe: 2-3, BB, E, 2 A

Cecchini has been absolutely incredible this year, but after getting caught just six times in 57 stolen base attempts last year, he's already been nabbed five times in 2013.

Greenville W 9-3

Box Score

Mookie Betts: 2-4, BB
Jose Vinicio: 1-5
Cody Koback: 1-4

Pat Light: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Pat Light: three pitches and injured. Uh oh.
