Red Sox minor lines: Featuring Carolina League All-Stars

Garin Cecchini and Blake Swihart went to the All-Star game. Now will one (or even both) of them be headed to Portland?

Christian Petersen

Pawtucket W 3-2

Box Score

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 1-4, HR, BB, 2 K
Bryce Brentz: 0-5, K
Xander Bogaerts: 2-5, K
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 1-3, BB, 2 K, 2 SB

Chris Hernandez: 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

That's a nice way for Bradley to break out of an 0-for-15 slump. He's still got an OPS of .886 even after so many fruitless plate appearances.

Portland Game 1 L 1-4 (In 7)

Box Score

Michael Almanzar: 1-3, K
Travis Shaw: 1-3

Matt Barnes: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

It took Matt Barnes a lot of pitches (in part because of some errors, obviously), but this is the first time in more than a month that he's avoided surrendering any earned runs.

Portland Game 2 W 3-0 (In 7)

Box Score

Michael Almanzar: 0-4, 2 K
Travis Shaw: 2-4, 2B, K
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-2, SB

Even with a recent 8-for-19 run, Shaw's OPS has just barely reached .700, so awful was his May performance.

Carolina League All-Stars W 12-2

Box Score

Garin Cecchini: 0-2, BB, cS
Blake Swihart: 1-3,

This team has a proclivity for promoting guys after All-Star breaks. Don't be surprised if Garin Cecchini is coming to a Portland near you sometime in the next couple of days.
