While a straight rotation of the Jose Iglesias, Will Middlebrooks, and Stephen Drew would leave Drew the odd man out today, it seems John Farrell is reinforcing the idea that Iglesias is, first and foremost, the utility man. At least he'll be available off the bench if the situation calls for it.
Shane Victorino is also out, likely just for a standard day off. Then again, with the way his season has gone so far, we should all be concerned he will find a wall to crash into in the clubhouse. Or even in the streets of Boston. Please, can we keep him away from walls? Find him a nice open field somewhere?
Yes, Alfredo Aceves is pitching again. No, we shouldn't talk about it. Let's just...it'll be over soon. One way or another. And then it will be back again. Because baseball is a cruel, cyclical game.
