Red Sox minor lines: Sean Coyle's magnificent return

Sean Coyle made up for his two-game absence with a big night for Salem.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Pawtucket L 1-4

Box Score

Jose Iglesias: 1-2
Ryan Lavarnway: 1-4, 2B
Bryce Brentz: 0-4
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-3, BB, K
Brock Holt: 1-3

Craig Breslow: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Craig Breslow is likely ready to make his return. A good thing, too, given the inconsistencies shown by the Boston bullpen of late.

Portland W 2-1

Box Score

Michael Almanzar: 0-2, 2 BB
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-3, BB, E

A remarkably dull day for the Sea Dogs, who had backups and system fillers galore.

Salem W 9-4

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 2-4, 2 HR
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, BB, E'
Keury De La Cruz: 1-5, 2B, K
Brandon Jacobs: 0-5, 3 K
Blake Swihart: 0-3, 2 BB, E
Henry Ramos: 2-4, 2B, 3B, BB, SB

Henry Owens: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K, 1 HR

Sean Coyle said he could have played on Friday. I'm inclined to believe him given what he did in his actual return. This leaves him with nine homers and a .789 slugging percentage through 17 games played. He had nine homers in his full 116-game season last year.
