Red Sox vs. Phillies lineups: Ryan Dempster out to turn things around

Ryan Dempster is in need of a bounce-back performance Tuesday night as he takes on Cliff Lee and the Phillies.

Ryan Dempster will take the mound Tuesday night, looking to turn things around against the Phillies after a few lackluster starts.

The good news for Dempster is that the Phillies aren't exactly a murderer's row, and he's not coming off 127 pitches like he was last time. Hopefully he'll be able to shrug off those difficulties as little more than a bump in the road. This rotation looks a ton better with Dempster as a strong #3 than as a middling back-end starter.

Boston Red Sox (32-20)

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Jonny Gomes, LF
  3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  4. David Ortiz, DH
  5. Mike Napoli, 1B
  6. Daniel Nava, RF
  7. David Ross, C
  8. Stephen Drew, SS
  9. Jose Iglesias, 3B

Starting Pitcher -- Ryan Dempster

Philadelphia Phillies (24-27)

  1. Ben Revere, CF
  2. Michael Young, 3B
  3. Jimmy Rollins, SS
  4. Ryan Howard, 1B
  5. Delmon Young, DH
  6. Domonic Brown, LF
  7. John Mayberry, RF
  8. Freddy Galvis, 2B
  9. Erik Kratz, C

Starting Pitcher -- Cliff Lee

No matter what Dempster does, though, the Red Sox are going to have to score off of Cliff Lee if they intend to walk away with a win tonight. Unfortunately, Lee has pretty much been Lee this year, and has even been getting better as the year has gone on. If there's good news, it's that his strikeouts are down and he's giving up more fly balls than usual, but this is not an opponent they can expect to score much off of.
