Pawtucket W 9-8
Bryce Brentz: 2-4, HR, K
Jose Iglesias: 1-3, BB, E
Brock Holt: 0-3, BB, K
Chris Hernandez: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Bryce Brentz isn't on the 40-man roster just yet, but with Shane Victorino ailing and his Rule 5 eligibility coming this offseason, it wouldn't be too surprising to see the Red Sox find a spot for him if Victorino needs to hit the disabled list and Jackie Bradley Jr. isn't deemed ready to make a return.
Portland W 5-3
Xander Bogaerts 1-2, 2B, 2 BB
Michael Almanzar: 1-3, HR, BB
Travis Shaw: 1-3, 2B, BB
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-4
Brandon Workman: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K
Keith Couch: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
After going without one for the first half of the month, Michael Almanzar now has three homers in his last five games. As for Brandon Workman, this start looked a ton better before the fourth. It's been a while since he's really put a full start together just right, but we know that pitcher is in there somewhere.
Salem L 1-11
Deven Marrero: 0-4, BB
Garin Cecchini: 0-3, BB, K
Keury De La Cruz: 0-4, 3 K
Brandon Jacobs: 1-3, 2B, BB
David Renfroe: 0-4, 3 K
Henry Ramos: 0-2, 2 BB, K
Hand it to the Salem Sox: they don't let their teammates suck alone. Except Brandon Jacobs, but he needs the hit.
Greenville L 2-7
Mookie Betts: 1-5
Cody Koback: 1-4, 2B
Francellis Montas: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 HR
Montas seems to be the one man in Greenville who can actually put together a start right now. And while his ERA is 5.08, with a nearly 5:1 K:BB ratio, that's likely to keep on dropping at the pace it has in his last few starts. Guys who can throw as hard as Montas don't come along all that often, so it's good to see him recovering from his shaky first few outings.
