Starting Pitcher -- Jose Quintana

While Jon Lester did not have a good night Monday by any means, he at the very least managed to avoid the damage to the bullpen that can often occur after six-run starts. That could be quite important tonight given Felix Doubront's tendency to require plenty of help from the pen. While the lefty was able to survive his last outing, with six walks in five innings and no improvement in velocity, it didn't provide much reason for confidence. Hopefully a light-hitting Chicago lineup will help that, but yesterday's performance isn't exactly a great sign as far as that hope is concerned.

Quintana, on the other hand, doesn't need a lot more confidence. The 24-year-old is already holding his own in the majors with a 3.97 ERA, only slightly up from his 2012 mark. Still, he's often enough good for a few runs and a few innings from the bullpen. If Doubront can hold on, the Red Sox should at least be in this game.
