You know what the best part about a five-game winning streak started by your ace is?
Barring unforeseen circumstances, it means the team just passed the danger zone. Those games where it won't be the best the roster has to offer on the mound. It's like passing by hostile hotels on Park Place and Boardwalk. And now, with five wins already behind the team, they have a good chance to make it six, seven, and even eight before they get back to those more concerning days.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. For today, the Red Sox just need to win one game. They need Jon Lester to be the Jon Lester we've seen to start this season. They need to score enough off of Zach McAllister to not waste whatever he provides them. They need their bullpen to produce even after a day which saw much of its bullets spent.
And then tomorrow, they'll head back home, where they'll welcome the Kansas City Royals into town with David Ortiz back in the lineup. Hopefully with an 11-4 record.
