Red Sox minor lines: Rain, rain, and Sean Coyle

New, comments

Rain shut down the upper levels of the system, but couldn't keep Sean Coyle from an incredible night.

Jim Rogash

Two rainouts today in Pawtucket and Portland, as the inundation of the northeast continued. Hopefully that weather will hit the road for a while.

Salem W 7-2

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 2-4, 2 HR
Deven Marrero: 1-3, 2B, BB
Garin Cecchini: 1-4,2 B, POCS
Brandon Jacobs: 0-2, BB, K, SB
Keury De La Cruz: 2-4, 3B, K, SB
David Renfroe: 1-3
Henry Ramos: 0-3, BB, 3 K
Blake Swihart: 0-4, K

Henry Owens: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR
Noe Ramirez: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

If Sean Coyle needed an exclamation mark on his return-to-form, well, look no further. He has at least one his in every game so far, and is only missing an extra-base hit in one. There's arguably no one hotter in the system right now.

On the mound, Henry Owens provides another solid performance, while Noe Ramirez picks up another short performance. One wonders if this was just a function of the game being seven innings, thus cutting a piggy-back "start" short, or if Ramirez is destined for the bullpen.

Greenville Game 1 W 6-4 (In 7)

Box Score

Jose Vinicio: 0-3, K
Cody Koback: 2-4, 2 K, SB

Pat Light: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
Madison Younginer: 2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

The strong signs from Madison Younginer's first start leave in a hurry. Pat Light goes in the opposite direction, rebounding with a strong second outing after a mediocre debut.

Greenville Game 2 W 5-2 (In 7)

Box Score

Kendrick Perkins: 0-1, BB, K
Cody Koback: 1-1

Austin Maddox: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Yunior Ortega: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
