Red Sox minor lines: Allen Webster's short night

Allen Webster's night was cut short in Pawtucket, but not before he showed his stuff against Reading.

Allen Webster had a short night for the Pawtucket Red Sox. The good news: it's the rain's fault, not his! He only got out there for two innings, and suffered a few cheap hits in those innings, but responded with four strikeouts to keep runs off the board. That's nine strikeouts in seven frames for him so far.

Meanwhile, in games that finished...

Portland W 5-2

Box Score

Xander Bogaerts: 0-4
Travis Shaw: 0-3, BB, K
Christian Vazquez: 2-3, 2B, HR

Drake Britton: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Christian Vazquez broke out of his slump with a doozy of a night. Meanwhile, Drake Britton debuts with style, which would be all well and good if not for his serious...let's call it a lapse of judgement, to keep the language clean...during spring training. As it is, not sure how I feel about a good night for a very drunk driver.

Salem W 7-2

Box Score

Garin Cecchini: 2-4, 2B, K
Brandon Jacobs: 0-4, 3 K
David Renfroe: 4-4, 2B, HR
Henry Ramos: 1-3, 2 SB

Miguel Pena: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

David Renfroe had his first decent year in the Red Sox' system last year in Greenville. Now in Salem he's off to a hot start. Renfroe may have been a third round pick, but at the time he had a lot of people thinking he was Boston's best offering from that 2009 draft. Certainly have to keep an eye on him.

Greenville W 7-5

Box Score

Jose Vinicio: 1-3, BB, K, SB, CS
Kendrick Perkins: 1-4, 2B

Justin Haley: 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 BB, 5 K

Justin Haley, that is not a recipe for success.
