Red Sox minor lines: Anthony Ranaudo shines

New, comments

Anthony Ranaudo went five strong in his return to the mound Tuesday night.

Pawtucket W 5-1

Box Score

Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-4, 2 K
Brock Holt: 0-3, BB, 2 K
Bryce Brentz: 1-4, 2 K
Juan Carlos Linares: 0-4

Steven Wright: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

Portland L 2-3

Box Score

Xander Bogaerts: 1-4, K
Travis Shaw: 2-4, 2B, K
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-3, BB, K
Christian Vazquez: 0-4, K

Anthony Ranaudo: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
Daniel Bard: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

A strong return game for Anthony Ranaudo, who really needs to stay healthy more than anything else. Christian Vazquez helped out some, gunning down two would-be base stealers, because that's just kind of his thing.

Daniel Bard, on the other hand...this is why the Sox say they sent him down to Portland. After his last game, had he been in Pawtucket, he may have been thinking about the bus to Boston. He needs to put multiple positive performances together, and so far he just hasn't.

Salem L 4-12

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 1-4, 3B, BB, SB
Deven Marrero: 0-5, K
Keury De La Cruz: 1-4, 2B, BB, K
Brandon Jacobs: 1-4, HR, 2 K
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, K
David Renfroe: 1-4, K
Henry Ramos: 1-4, K
Blake Swihart: 1-3, 3B, BB

Sean Coyle: Jack of all trades.

Greenville W 5-3

Box Score

Jose Vinicio: 3-4, HR
Kendrick Perkins: 0-3, BB

Cody Kukuk: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K

Jose Vinicio had just three homers in all of 2012. Probably won't exactly tear the cover off the ball at any point power-wise, but it's nice to see the 19-year-old showing something in that area. A walk for his next trick, perhaps?
