Four Red Sox Make Baseball Prospectus' Top 101 Prospects List

Four Red Sox have been named to Jason Parks' list of the top 101 prospects in baseball over on Baseball Prospectus.

The four players in question are exactly who you might expect: Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley, Matt Barnes, and Allen Webster. And while Prospectus did not find any room on the list to squeeze in a fifth name like some others, they were perhaps the highest of all comers on Jackie Bradley and Matt Barnes. While they of course liked Xander Bogaerts plenty, giving him the twelfth spot on the list, it's nice to also see both Bradley (27) and Barnes (38) land comfortably in the top-40.

Allen Webster, Boston's last representative, comes in at 69. It's not as high a ranking as he's seen from some others, but it's not far off his usual place either.

Looking back at Baseball Prospectus' top-10 list for the Red Sox, it's not hard to see why they cut them off there. Blake Swihart would have been next in line, getting the nod at number five back in November despite being given a ceiling as a first-division starter with a lot of risk involved in making it there.

Last year the Red Sox managed the same number of players, starting with Xander Bogaerts at #32. Since then, Will Middlebrooks (55) and Ryan Lavarnway (98) have graduated (though Lavarnway obviously would have dropped out of contention anyway), and Brandon Jacobs (46) fell off heavily.
