Red Sox playoff roster: Doubront in, Thornton out

Boston released their 25-man ALDS roster hours before Game 1 begins.

The Red Sox have finally released their roster for the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. There is little in the way of surprise on it, given there was so much time in between Boston's final game of the regular season and their first playoff game, but one thing that fans have been curious about all week has finally been answered: lefty Felix Doubront is in fact one of the 25 this October.

It was unknown if Doubront would make it, given his awful performance in relief this year (and historically) in conjunction with comments that made it sound like he felt relieving was beneath him. Between the time of those comments and today, though, someone must have spoken to Doubront about how silly it was, and how relieving in the postseason was not a demotion, and so on, because, as of Thursday, he sounded on board with the plan.

The Sox released the full roster through a series of tweets:

The Red Sox take on the Rays at 3 pm at Fenway Park on Friday for Game 1 of the ALDS.
