After four games of nothing from the left side of the infield, John Farrell has finally turned to Boston's top prospect in Xander Bogaerts to get something going for a Red Sox lineup that just cannot seem to figure out Detroit's starting pitchers.

Also in the lineup: Jonny Gomes. Because...infield singles are a repeatable skill for a slow guy, I guess? And Daniel Nava probably killed Farrell's dog or something. Who knows.

The only other aberration is David Ross behind the plate. He was there for Jon Lester in Game 1, however, and in that not-a-playoff-game playoff game back in September. The duo has done well against Detroit so far--one hopes that success will continue here.
