Seven games down, two to go on this awful West Coast trip. Take a Red Sox team depleted by injury, remove one of its best players, wave the white flag in the process, and put them in their worst possible environment, and this is what you get: a seven-game losing streak, and a particularly awful one at that.

Can the Sox take even one game of nine? This is their best (and second-to-last) bet. Jon Lester vs. Blake Beavan with about the best lineup the Sox can put out behind him. That's not saying much, no, and there's something to be said for losing and draft position and all that, but one-in-nine doesn't seem like it's too much to ask for.
