It's a callous thing to say a favorite player shouldn't have had a son. But man, Dustin, couldn't you wait until the Yankees were out of town?

All kidding aside, the great news is that Dustin Pedroia is now a father twice over, with his wife Kelli giving birth to a son in the early hours this morning. The bad news is that it means no Pedroia in the lineup to try and help the Sox win one of the few games most of us would desperately like them to.

Instead, we'll get Ivan De Jesus batting ninth. Even with Salty staying in and Daniel Nava playing in place of Ryan Kalish, it still looks worse than any batting order with Pedroia. He'd been hitting the lights out, and the Sox will be worse off for his absence.
