The notes for today's game have revealed that Josh Beckett will, in fact, miss Sunday's start after being felled by back spasms in his last outing against the Tigers.

While it's unclear whether or not Beckett is headed for the disabled list, at least for now it's not a good sign for the beleaguered starter.

It's good news, however, for Franklin Morales, who after a brief (pointless) sojourn to the bullpen will be making the spot start in place of Beckett. While it's possible this is just a temporary move with the southpaw answering the call of duty when his team needs it, given his impressive numbers as a starter and the recent failings of other members of the rotation, it makes all too much sense for him to stay there beyond Beckett's return, whenever that should come.

Morales will not have much pressure to perform on him, as his start comes against Nick Blackburn and his 7.43 ERA.
