Bullpen Banter Scouts Drake Britton

Drake Britton has had an odd year, in that he started it by continuing to spiral downward, dashing hopes that his ceiling as a starter remained. But, he picked things up while with High-A Salem enough that he received a promotion to Portland, and he's been mostly successful during his first run at the Double-A level. He's not out of the woods yet, but he is once again a prospect with the ceiling of a starter, rather than one who had to make it in relief or not at all.

Bullpen Banter's E. Tyler Bullock scouted Britton recently when he took on the Binghamton Mets on August 25. It's a detailed breakdown, with a look at Britton's body, mechanics, his fastball, breaking balls, and change-up, as well as a look at the overall package and how he projects as of today. Bullock also included three videos, one of which is embedded here after the jump.

Bullock essentially comes to the same conclusion we've come to with regards to Britton as of late: he's back to being a starting prospect, but a future as a reliever still looms very large due to his issues with consistency, both in his delivery and in his command. It's worth the read to find Bullock get to that point, though, as you might learn something about Britton you didn't know yet.
