Red Sox To Honor Johnny Pesky

The Boston Red Sox will honor the late Johnny Pesky tonight before and during their game against the Los Angeles Angels--their first home game since Pesky's passing last Monday, the 13th.

The team will have a pre-game tribute to Pesky, finishing with a moment of silence for the Red Sox legend. Johnny's son, David, is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch immediately afterwards

In-game, the Sox will all wear Johnny Pesky's retired number six, while the flags in the park are to be flown at half-mast. Finally, the grounds crew has cut a large six into the grass behind the left side of the infield where Pesky so long made his home.

The team will continue to honor Pesky for the remainder of the 2012 season, wearing a black patch on home and alternate uniforms. We have already seen the armband worn on their away uniforms over the last week.
