Jackie Bradley, Jr. slipped on a wet field and twisted his ankle. Although he was helped off the field, it doesn't seem like the injury was serious. Which is good. Because if it was I'd have punched this season in it's stupid face. (Danny Wild; MiLB.com)
To hear Josh Beckett talk about his pitching, well, you'd think it was me. Or you, assuming you have the mouth of a debauched porn star. In any case, Beckett isn't happy, which I suppose, is a good thing. Not good that he's not happy, good that he has a desire to improve. (Alex Speier; WEEI.com)
This is a few days old, but it's a fairly comprehensive and level-headed look at the Red Sox this season by Jonah Keri. Totally worth reading. (Jonah Keri; Grantland)
John Lackey is making some progress and may actually pitch in some sort of game situation before the season ends. There is hope that maybe he can be a solid and contributing member of the rotation next season. (Alex Speier; WEEI.com)
Would signing Cody Ross to a contract extension be a good idea? Eric Seidman isn't sure. (Eric Seidman; Fan Graphs)
Jeff Sullivan formerly of Baseball Nation has moved over to Fan Graphs. This is his first piece there and it's on the Angels who are, forgive me, pulling a 2011 Red Sox and completely falling apart. (As if you needed that last part to explain it.) (Jeff Sullivan; Fan Graphs)
Yesterday Joba Chamberlain hit Kevin Youkilis with a pitch. It was the first time that Chamberlain has ever hit Youkilis with a pitch according to Baseball-Reference. I couldn't believe that was true, but somehow, it is. Here is the offending pitch, by the way. Just like all the other ones that just missed Youk, this one must have slipped or some other such garbage. (MLB)
Roger Clemens? Oh no, please, just stop it. (Matthew Pouliot; Hardball Talk)
The Red Sox are 17th on Jonah Keri's power rankings at Grantland, in between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Seattle Mariners. (Jonah Keri; Grantland)
What is Beep Baseball? No, it has nothing to do with censoring swear words. It sounds pretty incredible and yes that is a pun and yes it is on purpose and no I'm not sorry. (David Wanczyk; The Classical)
