It's a sad day when you look at this lineup:

Lineup

BOSTON RED SOX BALTIMORE ORIOLES
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF Nick Markakis, RF
Carl Crawford, LF J.J. Hardy, SS
Dustin Pedroia, 2B Nate McLouth, LF
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B Adam Jones, CF
Cody Ross, DH Matt Wieters, C
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C Chris Davis, DH
Mike Aviles, SS Mark Reynolds, 1B
Scott Podsednik, RF Manny Machado, 3B
Nick Punto, 3B Omar Quintanilla, 2B

And after an initial flair of annoyance realize "yeah, that's about the best we can do."

Scott Podsednik and Nick Punto are...tough to swallow, but this is the reality of the incredibly injured Red Sox right now. Yes, Pedro Ciriaco would be nice to see, especially behind Aaron Cook given all of his ground balls, but given the bigger picture, it's probably not something to get too terribly upset about.

Hope for good stuff from the top-four. Hope for Aaron Cook to keep the ball down. Hope for something better than we received last night. 7-1 losses are simply no fun to watch.
