Boston's outfield has been decimated by injuries. First, when it was discovered Carl Crawford wasn't starting the season with the team, and then again, when Jacoby Ellsbury's shoulder came unhinged just seven games into the year. That unfortunate trend has continued, and now, even with Darnell McDonald returning from his injury and rehab assignment, there are still five outfielders -- a full roster's worth -- on the disabled list.
One way of plugging the hole created by these injuries is by promoting Ryan Kalish to the big leagues once again, as they did in 2010 when a similar situation was afoot. He's on a rehab assignment in Triple-A Pawtucket right now, but there's reason to believe he should be in the majors at the earliest opportunity instead.
