Thursday Red Sox Lineup: These Guys Have To Face Felix Hernandez

Presswire

The Red Sox have done a pretty good job of scoring runs lately. In fact, not since the 1-4 loss against Jair Jurrjens have the Sox come in at under five runs.

Tonight that could change. It's not guaranteed, but when you come up against the likes of Felix Hernandez, who is on a roll with 14 innings of 2-run ball, the quality and momentum of a lineup tends to go out the window.

Still, let's read into it some. It seems fairly clear that Bobby Valentine is planning to stick with this platoon at the cleanup spot between Cody Ross and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. With Hernandez on the mound tonight it is, of course, Salty's turn. He's responded well to cleanup duty so far, hitting with an OPS over 1.000. It's in all of 13 plate appearances, but he certainly hasn't done poorly.

Other than that it's the usual bunch in a fairly typical order.
