Red Sox Injury News: Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury

We've already had a day filled with injury news thanks the the return of Cody Ross and the departure of Scott Podsednik to the disabled list. Now there's more, with fresh updates on three players who were already on the DL to start the day in Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Fortunately, it's all good news.

Josh Beckett, who missed his last start due to an injured shoulder, is apparently not long for the disabled list. An MRI has showed no structural damage to his shoulder (per Alex Speier), which Beckett believes will mean just one more missed start as he waits out the mandatory 15 days. Of course, if Franklin Morales can replicate his results against the Cubs, the Sox won't mind the wait.

Carl Crawford is also making progress towards a return, and was spotted throwing in left field before today's game against the Marlins (per Nick Cafardo). It's been a long while since we've seen Carl in action, but given that it was the throwing which was giving him problems and caused the setback which has so delayed his return, this too is a good sign for the outfielder.

Finally, there's Jacoby Ellsbury, who was also on the field early taking batting practice with Dave Magadan (once again, per Alex Speier). Ellsbury has been taking BP on-and-off for about a week now--a long way from April, when he was just trying to restore mobility to his shoulder. Like Crawford, Ellsbury's return is overdue based on original estimates, so it's good to see that he's continuing to move forward rather than backward.
