Game 26: Ugh

That about sums it up.

Because we've lost three straight.

Because we're 11-14.

Because we're hoping that Josh Beckett has only been pushed back and there's not another shoe to fall in the circumstances of Aaron Cook's debut.

Because Jason Hammel is for some reason good right now.

Because Will Middlebrooks is out with a tight left hamstring.

Because for some reason that has convinced Bobby Valentine to change his initial lineup where Ryan Sweeney was leading off to give Nick Punto the first Red Sox at bat of the game.

Because that doesn't instantly cause Ben Cherington or Larry Lucchino to make a phone call to tell him to please remove his head from places best unseen.

Because Punto will probably somehow pull off a couple of hits and inspire Bobby Valentine to think he was smart to put him there, thus beginning the days of a .280 OBP at leadoff.

Because even when they've given us nothing for seven months, we're still compelled to say

Go Sox!
