Portland Game 1 W 7-6 (In 8)
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-3, 2 BB, K, A
Juan Carlos Linares: 2-5, 2B, HR, A
Bryce Brentz: 2-4, BB
Chris Hernandez: 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
-Two straight stumbles for Hernandez after starting the year on fire.
Xander grows after the jump.
Portland Game 2 W 3-2 (In 7)
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 2-4, 2 K
Juan Carlos Linares: 1-2, BB
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, HR, K-I had a whole big thing typed out here, but then Marc kinda stole my thunder.
Josh Fields: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Salem W 7-5
Jackie Bradley: 1-4, 2B, BB, K
-I've got a weird thing with the 1-for-4 with a double and a walk game. It's good for a .900 OPS, which to me makes it sort of the classic good game. For Bradley, it's almost a disappointment. That's saying something.
Sean Coyle: 0-4, BB, K
Travis Shaw: 1-3, K
Xander Bogaerts: 1-4, 2B
-His power hasn't been all there so far, but Xander Bogaerts' OBP is a good 30 points higher so far despite the level change, with a lower strikeout rate and higher walk rate. We know the pop is in there, too, so it's easier to take this as purely a positive.
Greenville L 2-7
Keury De La Cruz: 1-4, K, E
Garin Cecchini: 0-4, 2 K
David Renfroe: 1-4, 2B
Blake Swihart: 1-3, 2B
Henry Owens: 4 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
-An unfortunate relapse for Owens, who had allowed just 4 ER in his last 23.2 innings of work.
