Now this is what we call a momentous game.

First, the Red Sox are at .500 after a 1-5 and 4-10 start to the season.

Second, it came on the back of an excellent game from Jon Lester, who was one bad start away from an early vote of no confidence.

Third, it was a shutout! The first of the year from the Red Sox, with two decent innings from the bullpen! Who ever could have imagined?

The Sox' offense finally met its match in Jake Peavy, who went the whole game but was unlucky enough to have Ryan Sweeney find a bloop double in the same inning that Adrian Gonzalez hit a single into right. Sometimes that's all it takes, and frankly it's the little things that the Sox haven't really been getting of late.

So a six-game winning streak, .500 a good 20 games before we made it there last year, and everything coming together on some level or another. For the first time in a good number of months, it's not a bad day to be a Red Sox fan.
