Game 120: Let The Marathon Begin

Game 1 begins now, Game 3 will probably end about 27-28 hours from now. That's a lot of baseball. Too much? Is that possible? It might be...

The Sox will start things off with a mostly full lineup, albeit with Mike Aviles filling in fore Scutaro and his still-sore back.

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
  4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
  5. David Ortiz, DH
  6. Carl Crawford, LF
  7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  8. Josh Reddick, RF
  9. Mike Aviles, SS

Jon Lester will receive the call for the afternoon start, hoping to bounce back from a couple of mediocre-average games against New York and Minnesota.

Meanwhile, James Shields will try and show that he's the man who shut the Sox out back in May, not the six earned in six innings Shields from July.

Did the Mariners series provide a wake-up call? How about being tied in the East again? Can the Sox please get on a roll? It'd definitely make things more fun over the next month.

Go Sox! Get back to being your mid-season selves.
