Game 89: John Lackey Looks To Finish First Half On A High Note, Faces Orioles

After defeating the Orioles 10-3 last night, the Boston Red Sox look to take the series and win their fifth straight game as they battle Baltimore once again. Last night, David Ortiz and Orioles reliever Kevin Gregg made this series a little more interesting with their brawl. Let's see if the teams keep it going tonight.

Taking the mound for the Red Sox will be John Lackey, who will look for victory number six on the season. It was the same old story for Lackey in his last outing, as he gave up seven earned runs on nine hits in two and a third innings against Toronto. In his career, Lackey has had success against the Orioles, as he comes into play 10-4 with a 3.05 ERA.

The Orioles will counter with young right hander Alfredo Simon, who will make his first start of the season for the Orioles. Simon, who was a reliever, last pitched on July 4 against the Rangers, giving up five earned runs over four and two thirds innings. In his career, Simon has appeared in five games as a reliever against Boston, with a 5.40 ERA.

With a right hander on the mound, Terry Francona will go left-handed hitter heavy for tonight's lineup. Josh Reddick will get the start in left, while J.D. Drew will make his return to the lineup in right field. Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be catching John Lackey this evening, batting seventh. Here is the full lineup:
