Red Sox - Yankees has been pretty good for us of late. A 5-1 record against the Bronx Bombers, including a 3-0 sweep the last time we were in New York has been a major part of keeping the race for the AL East close. Now the Yankees have a chance to even the scales and take a commanding lead, and the Red Sox an opportunity to retake the division after they were finally worn down by a nearly month-long marathon in May.
The Sox will be down Jed Lowrie tonight, as the young shortstop will be getting an MRI on his sore shoulder to make sure there's no structural reason for the continuing discomfort. Marco Scutaro will be making his return from the disabled list to take over, at least for the night.
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Carl Crawford, LF
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
8. J.D. Drew, RF
9. Marco Scutaro, SS
Taking the mound will be Jon Lester, who has spent this past week in a locked room covered in calendars pointing out that, no, it was not April, and just in case May was the new April, it is now in fact June.
Hopefully he gets that.
Opposing him will be Freddy Garcia, who has been good against most teams not named "Red Sox" this year. Hopefully, he will continue that trend for one more game, and then maybe just suck for the rest of the year period? It'd be nice.
Go Sox!
