The Boston Red Sox look to end their four-game losing streak, as they go to work against the Oakland Athletics. The two met back in April and split their two-game series in Oakland. The Sox will look to make up some ground in the A.L. East, as they now sit in second, two games behind the Yankees.
On the mound for Boston will be right-hander Clay Buchholz, who is looking for win number five on the year. In his last start, Buchholz pitched six strong innings in his last start against Detroit, giving up three earned runs on six hits in a no-decision. Clay pitched in game two of the Oakland series back in April, pitching five and two thirds innings while only allowing one earned run in an eventual win. In his career against the A's, Buchholz is 1-2 with a 7.31 ERA in four career starts.
Meanwhile, the A's will run out left-hander Josh Outman, who will make his third start this season. Outman last pitched back on May 28, going six innings and only surrendering two earned runs on six hits. Outman was brought up from AAA Sacramento earlier this season, the first time he'd seen MLB action since 2009. In his career, Outman has not faced the Red Sox.
Tonight's lineup will feature a few changes due to the fact that a left-hander will be on the mound. Mike Cameron will be in right field tonight, batting eighth in place of the left-handed J.D. Drew. Carl Crawford and Jed Lowrie will once again swap spots. With Buchholz on the mound, Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be behind the plate. Here's the full lineup:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jed Lowrie, SS
7. Carl Crawford, LF
8. Mike Cameron, RF
9. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
