After losing last night's matchup against the Brewers 4-2, the Boston Red Sox look to get back on track and claim the series as they face Milwaukee again today in the rubber game of the series. Today, the Red Sox will also be playing for their dads today on this Fathers Day 2011.
For the rubber game, the Sox will be sending out the knuckleballer, right hander Tim Wakefield who will be looking for win number four on the season. Wake last pitched on June 14 against the Rays where he went seven strong innings, giving up only one earned run on four hits while walking five and striking out two in an eventual loss. In limited action, Wake has had some success against the Brewers, as he is 5-2 with a 3.33 ERA.
The Brewers will counter with one of their aces, as they will send out 25-year old righty Yovani Gallardo who's looking for victory number nine on the year. Gallardo last pitched on June 14 against the Cubs where he went seven strong innings, giving up one earned run on three hits while walking three and striking out ten in an eventual no decision. This afternoon will mark Gallardo's first ever appearance against Boston.
Due to the recent injuries, the Red Sox lineup will stack up a little bit differently than we are used to. Recently called up Josh Reddick will get the start in left field today with Carl Crawford injured, batting ninth. J.D. Drew will slide all the way up to sixth in the order (yikes). With Wakefield on the mound, Jarrod Saltalamacchia will get the start behind the plate, batting eighth. Here is the full lineup:
