Red Sox Minor Lines 5/28: Ryan Lavarnway Steals Anthony Ranaudo's Thunder

The DSL Sox started their season today but, of course, there's still no box score up 12-or-so hours after the fact...

Pawtucket L 7-9

Box Score

Che-Hsuan Lin: 0-3, BB
Lars Anderson: 0-5
Mike McKenry: 1-4, HR, BB, K
Jose Iglesias: 2-5, K

Kyle Weiland: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, 1 HR
-If there's one thing you have to give to Weiland, it's that he's consistent. He'll go out there and provide five or six solid innings, if rarely five or six great ones--though today does lean towards that extremity.
Jason Rice: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Sean Coyle again utilizes WHEELS after the jump.

Portland Game 1 L 7-8 (In 7)

Box Score

Jeremy Hazelbaker: 1-3, BB
Alex Hassan: 2-4
Ryan Lavarnway: 2-3, 2 HR, BB, K
Tim Federowicz: 0-3, BB, K
Will Middlebrooks: 1-4, 2B
Oscar Tejeda: 0-2, BB, K, CS

Stephen Fife: 4.2 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
-Fife was due for some regression (even if that's not how it works). Here it is.

Portland Game 2 W 7-5

Box Score

Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-3, BB, 2 K, E
Ryan Lavarnway: 2-2, 2B, BB
-Amazingly, that's only Lavarnway's third double to go with his now ten homers. And while his season-long numbers still aren't impressive, he's hitting .378/.455/.730 in his last ten.
Will Middlebrooks: 2-3, HR

Salem L 3-6

Box Score

Pete Hissey: 0-5, 2 K
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-4, K
Reynaldo Rodriguez: 1-4, HR, K, A

Kendal Volz: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Greenville W 5-2

Box Score

Sean Coyle: 2-4, 2B, K, 2 SB
Miles Head: 0-4, 2 K
Brandon Jacobs: 1-4, K, 2 SB
Henry Ramos: 2-4, HR, K
-Ramos is responding to the challenge of Greenville better than I'd have expected. He might be making a case to stick there even after Lowell starts.
David Renfroe: 1-2, 3B, BB
-Three walks in his last four games. Probably nothing, but better than if he hadn't.

Anthony Ranaudo: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 1 HR
Keith Couch: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
