The Boston Red Sox will look to snap their two-game losing streak and make up some ground in the A.L. East standings against their arch rivals: The New York Yankees. This will be the second series the Sox and the Yankees will play; the Sox took the first series 2-1. This time, baseball's best rivalry will shift to the Bronx.
Boston will send Clay Buchholz to the mound to try and get the series kicked off right for the Sox. Buchholz bounced back nicely in his last start against the Twins, throwing five innings while giving up two hits and no runs in a rain delayed shut out of Minnesota. In his career, Buccholz hasn't fared too well against the Bombers--only 1-3 with a 6.25 ERA.
The Yankees will counter with former Red Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon, who has been something of a suprise in the Yankees' thin pitching rotation this year. To this point, Colon is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA. Colon took a year off from baseball in 2010, but is an overall 8-10 with a 4.13 ERA against the Sox in his career. Here is the lineup that the Sox will put out against the 37-year-old:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. J.D. Drew, RF
7. Jed Lowrie, SS
8. Carl Crawford, LF
9. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
Will Clay Buchholz be able to reverse his fortunes against the Yankees?
Or will Big Bad Bartolo continue his impressive comback to baseball?
