Since being placed on the 15-day disabled list, reliever Dan Wheeler has rehabbed very nicely from his right calf strain and is on track to re-join the Red Sox very soon.
Wheeler has participated in rehab starts with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox and has done quite well. His line yesterday: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K on 10 pitches (six of which were strikes).
Wheeler's tenure with the Red Sox to this point has been quite dissapointing. While he doesn't have a record to his name, Wheeler's ERA stands at 11.32 and he has already surrendered four home runs, three shy of his 2010 total.
When Wheeler does re-join Boston's bullpen, it is like that either Alfredo Aceves or Rich Hill will get the boot back to Pawtucket. Even though guys like Matt Albers have done a good job in the later innings, a healthy Wheeler will hopefully strengthen the back end of the bullpen.
